Thomas is a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist and registrant of The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC). He has been working in private practice initially as a psychodynamic psychotherapist since 2004. His first training was at WPF Therapy London where he completed a 4 years postgraduate clinical training in psychodynamic psychotherapy. His past experience includes working as a psychotherapist at Maudsley Hospital London as well as in University and community settings.

Currently, alongside his private practice in the City of London, Thomas works as a psychotherapist for the NHS at a specialist unit (Fitzjohns) providing treatment for adults with complex psychological needs including personality disorders at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust London. Following his interest in the treatment of deep-seated emotional difficulties, Thomas has completed an additional further 4 years of advanced postgraduate clinical training in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Tavistock Clinic. He can offer intensive treatment at 3-4 sessions per week for patients who want long-term work to understand and work through the roots of their difficulties, rather than just alleviating their symptoms. He has also trained and qualified in MBT (Mentalisation Based Therapy) for Borderline Personality Disorder at the Anna Freud Centre London.

Alongside providing individual psychotherapy, Thomas provides clinical supervision for counsellors, psychotherapists, clergy and community workers. His past portfolio includes training staff at the University of Essex on handling grief and loss in the workplace, and lecturing on trauma, sexual abuse and personality disorders at various conferences in the UK. He is also currently a Visiting Lecturer for the once weekly Psychodynamic Training at the Tavistock Clinic London and Clinical Supervisor for the Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Training at the British Psychotherapy Foundation (BPF) London.

Thomas has had a lifelong interest in the integration of Christianity and Psychoanalysis in his work. His areas of expertise include Psychological Trauma, Chronic Anxieties, Difficulties in Relationships and Personality Disorders. He is on the BPC Public Register and the Professional Standards Authority Accredited Register. He is also a professional member of the Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (APP).
